The cave had been taking advantage of its hair-raising past by showing a number of horror films over the spooky season
Watching a horror film about bloodthirsty predators terrorising a group of naïve cavers while sat in a cave with its own eerie past is something many wouldn't dream of - except for those who want nothing more than a good old fright. That's what two explorers were met with after attending a Peak District cinema set deep within an old cave.
Six films were shown from Thursday, October 24 to Sunday, October 27, including some classics such as The Crow, IT, Hocus Pocus and The Conjuring. One TikToker shared their experience of the "Cinema in a Cave", offering a sneak peek at what to expect from the other-worldly site. After numerous failed attempts to save him, 20-year-old Oscar Hackett Neil Moss lost consciousness from carbon dioxide poisoning from his own respiration building up at the base of the shaft. Mr Moss was declared dead after two days of rescue attempts and his father, who had kept vigil at the entrance, requested that his son's body be left in place to avoid the risk of further injury or loss of life to those attempting to rescue Oscar.
