Vietnam: This is according to the country's Traffic Police Department.
The number of traffic accidents and deaths during the seven-day holiday decreased 7 percent and 3 percent respectively while the number of injuries increased nearly 8 percent compared with the same period last year, according to the department.
During the holiday from last Friday to Thursday, a total of 21,990 traffic violations were handled with fines totaling 50.4 billion Vietnamese dong , according to the department. The police confiscated nearly 640 automobiles and more than 9,900 motorbikes and withdrew nearly 5,000 driving licenses of different kinds. Among the violators, over 7,700 people were fined for high blood alcohol content, the traffic police department said.
A total of 11,448 traffic accidents occurred in 2022 in Vietnam, killing 6,364 people, severely injuring 4,215 and slightly injuring 3,613, according to the country's Traffic Police Department. - Xinhua
