The video sparked conversations about the prevalence of toxic workplace culture, particularly among younger generations. Millennials and Gen Z are increasingly prioritizing their wellbeing and are willing to leave jobs that don't support them.

Baradinsky said that overall “I just felt like I was giving it my all and clearly no one gives a shit about you, and I was like, ‘what is the point of putting so much emotional energy into this job?’”found that 83% of Gen Z employees are burnt out, and over a third of them are considering quitting because their job “negatively affects their physical/mental wellbeing.

Loyalty means something different to our generations. We’ll work hard, and we will be active participants in an office. But we don’t see a company as something we should giveInstead of remaining in an unsatisfactory workplace, allowing the culture to fester because we put up with it, we’re taking a stand. We’re confident enough to take a scary leap into the unknown if we’re aware that our job is making our overall life miserable.

What’s great about this is that it puts pressure on workplaces to step up. Instead of turning a blind eye to the mental health of their employees , they’ll have to implement actual change that benefits their staff.With Gen Z employees now aged between 13 and 28, and Millennials 29 to 44, we now make up the majority of the workforce. As Boomers and Gen X age out and into retirement, this means the power balance is shifting, and companies are going to have to catch up.

Like Baradinsky, we aren’t scared to call out toxic workplace culture, and to seek more from our employers. If a company digs its heels in and refuses to budge on lifestyle support like work-from-home opportunities, mentoring, adequate HR and manageable workloads, we’ll just leave – and other companies that navigate this generational shift will answer our needs and retain the best staff.
