A severe Friday afternoon thunderstorm has the possibility of turning into a tornado over Cumberland and Perry counties, forecasters said.was issued around 12:45 p.m. Friday for north-central Cumberland County and southeastern Perry County. The warning is in effect until 1:15 p.m.
The National Weather Service said a severe storm with tornado potential was located at 12:43 p.m. over Carlisle Springs. The storm is moving northeast at about 30 mph. “Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter,” forecasters said in the tornado warning. “Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.”
The storm will be near Shermansdale at 12:50 p.m., New Bloomfield at 1 p.m. and Duncannon, Marysville and Newport at 1:10 p.m.“Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building,” forecasters said. “Avoid windows.
