Tornado warning issued for Wheaton, Elmhurst, Lombard: weather service
At least one funnel cloud has been spotted after a tornado warning was issued for Wheaton, Elmhurst and Lombard and other areas of north central Cook County, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning, which expired about 4:30 p.m., included the possibility of “penny-sized” hail, according to the weather service.It included areas as far north as Wheeling and Northbrook, as far east as Winnetka and as far northwest as Elk Grove Village. At least one funnel cloud was seen, according to the service. Around 4 p.m., storm sirens could be heard blaring on the Northwest Side of Chicago, in Arlington Heights and in Barrington.This storm continues to exhibit low- to mid-level rotation, and produced at least one funnel cloud. A Tornado Warning remains in effect for this storm!
