A new study has found that time-restricted eating, a form of intermittent fasting, can significantly reduce A1c levels in adults with metabolic syndrome. Participants who followed an 8- to 10-hour eating window experienced a greater reduction in A1c compared to those who received standard nutritional counseling.

For the study, participants kept to an 8- to 10-hour window of eating, a dietary practice called time-restricted eating or intermittent fasting.

Metabolic syndrome can result in patients developing a wider waistline and elevated glucose, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels.
