Tiger Woods has entered a plea following his DUI arrest last Friday, which came after he was involved in an accident

Tiger Woods pleaded not guilty in his DUI case on Tuesday, March 31, following his car accident and subsequent arrest, TMZ has reported. Woods, 50, was arrested on Friday, March 27, after his involvement in a rollover car accident in Jupiter Island, Florida.

Though the golfer passed a breathalyzer test, indicating he had not consumed alcohol at the time of the accident, he refused a urinalysis test. Woods was subsequently charged with a DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. An arrest affidavit obtained by Us Weekly revealed that Woods allegedly had two hydrocodone pills in his pocket at the time of his arrest. Police also claim Woods was “lethargic and slow,” and that his eyes were “bloodshot and glassy” with “extremely dilated” pupils. Woods claimed the crash occurred when he looked at his phone and tried to change the radio station in the car, not realizing the vehicle in front of him had slowed. TMZ added that Woods has retained Douglas Duncan to represent him during the legal proceedings. The outlet reports that Duncan filed a waiver of presence for Woods at his pretrial conference on Tuesday, when his plea was entered.Duncan, a veteran Palm Beach attorney, also represented Woods in 2017, when he was arrested after police found him asleep behind the wheel of his running car. A toxicology report at the time revealed Woods tested positive for five different drugs, including hydrocodone. Woods pleaded guilty to reckless driving, agreeing to enter into a DUI diversion program. He served one year of probation and 50 hours of community service. Woods has not yet spoken publicly about his most current arrest, but President Donald Trump, whom he has known for decades, updated reporters on the golfer’s alleged condition on Tuesday. “I think he’s doing great, he’s doing good,” Trump, 79, told the New York Post while speaking to reporters. He continued, “He tested negative for alcohol, as you know, and he is under a tremendous physical pressure from his various ailments, you know, the back and the leg. He lives a life of pain. He has a lot of pain. He’s an amazing guy. He’s an amazing athlete. He does have pain.” In addition to his 2017 and 2026 arrests, Woods has been involved in other notable car accidents over the years. In 2009, he was charged with careless driving when he crashed his car into a fire hydrant during a turbulent few days that also included several reports that he had engaged in extramarital affairs. Woods was also injured in a 2021 car accident in which he was allegedly driving his car at over 80 miles per hour, twice the posted speed limit. No charges were filed against him.
