Despite a dramatic drop-off in their offensive production as a team, the Texas Rangers still have three AL Silver Slugger Award finalists.

Both Seager and Semien, who won the awards last year, had significant drop-offs in OPS from 2023. Seager fell from 1.013 to .864; Semien from .826 to .699. Neither placed among the top three in the league in OPS among players who had at least 250 plate appearances at their nominated position.
At second, Semien’s main strength was his ability to simply play every day. He led the league in plate appearances at second, but there were only five players to reach 500 plate appearances at the position and only 10 to reach 250. Semien led AL second basemen in homers with 23, four more than Houston’s Jose Altuve. Altuve led the position in OPS .. His .731 OPS was a jump of 98 points from 2023.
