A man in his early forties was shot and killed on Tuesday evening in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Three suspects were arrested, and several weapons were recovered.
Three individuals were apprehended following a fatal shooting that transpired on Tuesday evening, as reported by a spokesperson for the Philadelphia Police Department. The incident occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. on the 3300 block of H Street in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia on January 14th, according to police.
Officers were conducting routine patrols in the vicinity of the intersection of H and Westmoreland streets when they were alerted by the sound of gunfire and observed a man brandishing a firearm, Chief Inspector Scott Small stated. The suspect was promptly apprehended. Subsequently, between two stationary vehicles, the officers discovered a man lying in the street, severely injured from gunshot wounds. Scott explained that the victim, identified as being in his early forties, had sustained two gunshot wounds to the head. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 5:30 p.m. Chief Inspector Scott Small emphasized that the officers, by sheer coincidence, happened to be in the right place at the right time when they heard the gunshots and subsequently witnessed the perpetrator standing over the victim with the weapon in hand. Police confirmed that three individuals have been arrested in connection with this shooting, and investigators recovered several firearms from the scene.
