There’s a ton of people out there already. We came from this direction and there were hundreds and hundreds of people along the road and a thousand chairs waiting for the people to come back,” Zoller said.Many attendees said the beach backdrop made the parade special compared to other Mardi Gras celebrations. “What else can you ask for. A nice big Mardi Gras parade with friendly people on the beach,” said June Hayes.“There’s nothing like it. You got the beach right there. How cool is that. The waves crashing in and everything, the palm trees, the scenery, it’s just absolutely amazing and that’s what makes this so different,” Minks said.The parade featured more than 80 entries including marching bands, fire trucks and floats traveling along the two-mile route. Spectators watched for their favorite throws from the floats.Teena York said she preferred moon pies over other throws. Several people said they were impressed by the costumes on the floats, with some spectators dressing up themselves. Alan Minks wore overalls, a tie and hat for the occasion. “The stunning overalls I have my tie on; I have my hat but most importantly I have my socks. Thems what I love the best,” Alan Minks said.Attendees said they enjoyed celebrating with the Orange Beach community.Alan Minks said the parade’s accessibility helped bring the community closer together. “There are no barriers which I like that.
