You have to get messy before you get clean 😅
So we've sorted our beauty products, but what about our living space? Psychologist and spatial expert Helen Sanderson, who has teamed up withinitiative to share key tips for decluttering the home and mind, explains that it’s vital to maintain your organised space.
"Keeping your home in order is not only beneficial to your physical space, but can also bring about a psychological change," explains Helen. "When you realise that our mental, physical and digital spaces are all interconnected, you can create a powerful synergy to support your wellbeing, both in your space and in your mind."While decluttering the home can often feel like a daunting task, reframing the narrative can be a great way to get inspired.
Next, keep on top of stray paperwork before it has a chance to grow into unmanageable piles. "Paperwork accumulates fast - avoid clutter by switching to paper-free bank and utility statements," says Helen. "The less you have coming in, the more mental space you have for being present and enjoying life."
Lastly, incorporate a little tidying into everyday life, rather than waiting for it to become a mammoth task. "Build your ‘organisation muscle’ by setting house rules, not just for kids, but for you too!," says Helen. "Make chores easy and front of mind by automatically scheduling your daily tasks and this will support your wellbeing."
Top tip: Ask your Google Pixel 3 or Home Hub where the nearest charity shop is and when it’s open. You can even set an alert on Home Hub to remind you to drop the clothing at the store. Sorted!
