There have been no changes to the operational security plan for the Republican National Convention following the apparent assassination attempt against Donald Trump, officials said at a press conference Sunday.
In response to a question about whether individuals may carry firearms around the soft perimeter of the convention, Gibson-Cicchino said the Secret Service’s primary jurisdiction falls within the event’s inner perimeter. Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson added that banning weapons outside of that zone is “not within our purview,” as Wisconsin is an open carry state.
