The couple thought they were giving money to help people relocate from Ohio to Pennsylvania, police said.

Published: Jun. 03, 2024, 4:24 p.m.LEWISBURG — A theft by deception charge against a Cumberland County woman has been dismissed because she has repaid the couple that gave her tens of thousands of dollars. The couple agreed to the dismissal of the charge prior to Thursday’s scheduled preliminary hearing, Assistant District Attorney Martin Wilson said.

On her own, Ketcham previously had repaid approximately $9,000 of the $59,920 she was accused of receiving, he said. The remainder was paid Thursday.Ketcham was accused of contacting the husband in early March 2022 asking for financial help in relocating families from Ohio to Pennsylvania, state police said.

Between then and last Sept. 1 he gave Ketcham $59,920 he thought was going to help with the relocations, they said. He became suspicious when she would not provide pictures of the family, let him speak with them and learned she had pleaded guilty in 2018 in Fulton County to medical assistance fraud, they said.
