MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For the opening two quarters Monday at the FedEx Forum, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich didn’t know if he was watching an NBA game or the crochet circle.The upstart Spurs ultimately got Memphis’ attention.
Here are three takeaways from Monday’s game, which the Spurs will rematch Wednesday with another meeting in Memphis:Tre Jones found out not long before tipoff he would be starting against his older brother.“It speaks to all the time we put in, in the gym, or our playroom on the Nerf hoop, whatever it is,” Jones said.

Despite a second-half rally that saw the Spurs take a five-point lead with 9:23 to play, that mark dropped to 0-26.
