Almost a year ago, supporters of a South San Antonio Independent School District trustee got kicked out of a meeting for dressing up as clowns to dramatize their displeasure with another trustee, who had called him a clown for wearing a ballcap and sandals at a board meeting.
Saavedra’s first report described an unnamed trustee’s bad behavior escalating to a felony charge, who, Saavedra wrote, did not attend the meeting but showed up during closed session and addressed the superintendent with profanity. “The board president filed a criminal complaint against him for disrupting a public meeting. … When the district police attempted to arrest the board member, he got in his car and drove away.
