The Standard to open first UK hotel at KingsCross
The Standard will open its first hotel in the UK this summer, in a brutalist building that used to occupy the Camden Town Hall Annexe.
This will be the sixth hotel to join other hotels that are part of The Standard chain in New York’s Meatpacking Distract and East Village, downtown Los Angeles, and Hollywood. All the hotels have been designed by Shaun Hausman Design. The designer also took inspiration from the history of the King’s Cross area, saying: “We looked more at the past King’s Cross and the seediness of the area – all these one-hour hotels that were still there and are slowly been redone. The Standard is a brand that likes to be a bit naughty, and not be appalled by those things.”
