Several members of our team are running in the 2024 NYC Marathon. For most of them, the shoes they started training in are not the ones they’ll be lacing up on November 5.
Determining which running shoe to run in for a marathon can involve a lot of trial and error. That’s no different for Runner’s World staffers and wear testers. Several members of our team are running in the NYC Marathon this weekend, and, as you’ll see in a few of their accounts below, they tried several different shoes before determining which ones they’ll be lacing up on November 3.
Even though I’ve been running for over ten years and have worn everything from Asics to New Balance, I test my gait regularly to make sure I’m not missing out on shoes that would be a better fit. The last few times I’ve gone, the Brooks Glycerin 21 wins out over any new shoes I try. If you’ve had your gait tested, you know any running store likes to say that the best shoe for you is one you don’t even notice you’re wearing. I’ve never felt that way until finding this shoe.
