Indications are investigators don’t have that tip and, with each passing day, chances of Genesis’ safe return diminish. Her mother reported Genesis missing in the predawn hours of Feb. 16, but holes soon developed in her account and investigators suspect the girl had been gone for several weeks, not a few hours as Adrienne Reid told them Kehlani Marie Rogers, 3, who was the subject of an Amber Alert issued Saturday, has been found safe. So suspicious was Reid’s account that prosecutors charged her with false reporting to law enforcement, a low-level felony for which a judge set a $1 million cash-only bond. The bond doesn’t fit the charge, but it gives investigators leverage in their effort to learn what really happened to Genesis if her mother lied. Chief Moore on Thursday vowed to keep searching for Genesis but eventually, with little hope and nowhere else to reasonably search, the effort must be scaled back.Ultimately, Adrienne Reid’s bond, without additional charges, will likely be reduced and she could walk out of jail without giving investigators the information they so desperately need.
