Noah Wyle and Shawn Hatosy in The Pitt Season 2
The Pitt has become one of the most popular shows on TV in the last year, and although HBO had never released a medical drama before it premiered, the demand for more content from Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center is rising by the day.
The Pitt returned with its second season almost exactly one year before the premiere of Season 1, and to ensure that this gap would remain relatively small moving into the future, HBO renewed The Pitt for a third season mere days before the Season 2 premiere. The Pitt Season 2 featured a time jump forward to the Fourth of July weekend, which opened the door to all potential types of fireworks and heat-related injuries. There are only a few episodes remaining in The Pitt Season 2, and fans everywhere are already asking questions about where the show will go in Season 3. One aspect of The Pitt that has allowed the fan base to come together is the perceived romance between characters. Each new season of The Pitt takes place over only one day at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, which hinders the show’s ability to show relationships blossom long-term, though. Noah Wyle recently sat down for an interview to talk about The Pitt, and when asked for an update on Season 3, he spoke about where they are in the writing process and even the prospect of seeing more romance in the future: “We are in the process of writing character arcs for Season 3 for everybody. It’s a very interesting show to break because, unlike a lot of shows where there are 22 episodes that may play out over a calendar year, this is 15 hours of one day. So you’re painting with a much finer brush. For a character’s arc, it’s not really enough to go through the courtship of a romance, but it’s enough to get your head turned. These are really small arcs that happen in the course of a day, but can be really satisfying if you’re engaged with the character.” Related An Actor Awards Round-Up — The Collider TV Quiz! This is heartbreaking news for fans of The Pitt who are looking for the show to incorporate more romance in the future. It does make sense, though, that one single shift at a hospital just isn’t enough time to show a relationship blossom. It does sound like there will still be some flirty moments to look forward to in the future, but don’t expect any wedding episodes of The Pitt anytime soon.
