Lucid Motors is rolling out Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the Gravity electric SUV. An over-the-air software update will bring the two smartphone mirroring features to older cars. American Gravity owners can expect to see a notification soon on their EV’s screen.
The Lucid Gravity is a fantastic electric SUV, offering tremendous range and charging figures, but it lacked two features that many owners were craving: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Now, though, the California-based EV startup is righting that wrong by rolling out an over-the-air software update that adds the two smartphone mirroring features to Gravity SUVs that are already on the road. 2026 Lucid Gravity Photo by: Patrick George Lucid UX version 3.5 is now rolling out wirelessly to Gravity owners in North America, with drivers in the Middle East and Europe scheduled to get the new features in late March. New Lucid Gravity SUVs rolling off the company’s assembly line in Casa Grande, Arizona, are already equipped with the latest software version that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. According to the company, wireless and wired connections are supported for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with the two systems getting a spot on the huge 6K-resolution Clearview Cockpit display that sits on the dashboard. Photo by: Lucid Motors 'Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are two of the most sought-after features by our customers,' said Emad Dlala, SVP of Engineering and Software at Lucid. 'We are now providing a seamless connection between mobile devices and the Lucid Gravity. We're excited to introduce these features to Lucid Gravity, which now offers even greater comfort and convenience for owners.' The Lucid Gravity debuted in 2024 as the fastest-charging EV in the United States, with a 400-kilowatt power input that enables it to add over 200 miles of range in just 11 minutes. Its native NACS charge port gives it access to Tesla Superchargers across North America, making life easier on long road trips, although many Superchargers can’t provide the full power that the Gravity can take. The Gravity is capable of going up to 450 miles on a full charge, making it an excellent long-distance cruiser that also happens to be luxurious and extremely fast. But for all of the headlining features, Lucid’s second model was riddled with software issues at the beginning, which prompted its CEO to replace the entire software team. For an $80,000+ car, glitches on the screen and unresponsive key fobs are unacceptable, but the good news is that these issues have been fixed with the latest software updates.
