A new survey from TradeSafe, focused on industrial safety, asked workers if they would take on certain dangerous jobs for double their current salary.

The wildcatter may be an iconic figure in state history, but many Texans today would not go to work on an oil rig — even for double their current pay. That’s according to a new survey from TradeSafe, a company headquartered in Nevada that sells industrial safety supplies that set out to determine the least desirable job in every state. The survey asked 3,000 workers if they would switch careers to certain notoriously dangerous occupations if their salary were doubled.

Oil patch jobs are on the rise in Texas. Here’s why “The dangerous working conditions, remote locations, and the potential for catastrophic accidents make this job particularly unappealing, despite the high pay often associated with the oil industry,” TradeSafe wrote. Despite that, the number of Texans working in the oil patch is on the rise.
