Things are definitely picking up as HBO’s Harry Potter series lurches toward production, namely casting,
and now a lot of names are starting to swirl around as being sought after for specific roles.that we can combine with previous ones to round out the adult side of the cast list so far, or at least what HBO wants it to be:
Professor Dumbledore – Mark Strong , Mark Rylance Professor McGonagall – Sharon Horgan Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger – 32,000 kids who submitted for the open casting calla bit, than the previous actors who took these adult roles. Mark Strong, just 61, is certainly an interesting pick for the wizened Dumbledore.
The Harry Potter series is likely to not even begin filming until 2026, eyeing a 2027 release date. If HBO commits to the full seven book series, given how spaced-out seasons are in the streaming era, we would be well into the late 2030s before this show would wrap. A bit hard to conceive of, as is greenlighting at least seven seasons of a show from the start, but that does seem likely, as does the series attracting an audience.
