Paapa Essiedu is being eyed for one of the most sought-after TV roles.
A British actor has reportedly been offered the role of Professor Severus Snape in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter TV series.Paapa Essiedu, best known for playing Kwame in 2020 dark comedy-drama I May Destroy You, as well as Alexander Dumani in Netflix drama Gangs of London, is hotly tipped to land the character, according to THR.'Sources say the actor has been offered the part although it is not clear if negotiations have begun in earnest,' the outlet reports.
Discovery global streaming chief JB Perrette said recently during a tech and media conference, 'As you look at '26 and into '27, you begin a ten-year journey on the Harry Potter series, which we're super excited about. And I'd argue, may be the biggest event by the time we get to that series.'No one has been cast yet, however, not even the star trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. HBO put out a casting call in September 2024 looking for children between the ages of 9-11.
