The Greater Manchester park that has become such a desirable day out AFF

For many families it's on their doorstep, while for others it's within easy reach, with bus routes and a tram stop for those without a car.

Back on land and just next to the lake are the park's new summer Lakeside Dining Domes, offering a unique afternoon tea experience. Whether letting off some steam before eating, or burning off some of the food afterwards, there's no shortage of places to do that. While the place needs a bit of a facelift, it's free to enter and keeps the little ones occupied for a while at least.

Adults need to accompany children under 12 on the treks, but children aged five and over can go on the nets alone. While the treks might not be everyone's cup of tea, most people would be comfortable on the bouncy nets, which feature ball parks, super fast slides and aerial walkways. A pump track has also been set up for kids to go on with bikes or scooters. There are some available to use at the site if you don't have your own, but all bikes are welcome, from balance bikes to adult mountain bikes. The only requirement is that you must be able to ride a bike without stabilisers.
