Ke Huy Quan, star of the beloved 1985 adventure film The Goonies, has shared updates on the long-rumored sequel. While Warner Bros. has actively sought writers to develop a script for The Goonies 2, none have yet satisfied Steven Spielberg's vision for the project.

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. Ke Huy Quan has addressed the rumors that The Goonies 2 is being made. Quan starred in the first Goonies movie, which was released in 1985 and is considered a classic adventure film. For the past few years, numerous rumors have circulated that a sequel to The Goonies is in development.

Quan recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, hosted by Josh Horowitz, and revealed that Warner Bros. has hired several writers in recent years to write The Goonies 2. However, none of the scripts have resulted in the film being greenlit. Read Quan's full comments below:\You know, it’s interesting. It never fails. Every couple of years or so, there’s always a Goonies rumor. I remember just recently, there was one that says, 'We’re doing a sequel with Steven Spielberg directing, and all the kids are back,' and I know nothing about that, so I know that couldn’t be true. It’s something that, I’m sure Warner Bros. wants to do it— all of us, all of us want to do it. But it’s such a beloved movie… I’m gonna leave it up to Spielberg. I mean, he’s the man that, obviously, without him, there’s no Goonies. And unfortunately we lost the captain of our ship, Dick Donner. But who knows? I’ll be there if they have a script. No, I have not , I have not. But what I do know is that it’s not like they’re not trying. In the last four years, Warner Bros. has tried. We’ve hired numerous writers, and there are multiple scripts out there. But somehow, I guess Spielberg feels that none of them lives up to the original.
