‘The Diplomat’ Renewed for Season 3 at Netflix Ahead of Season 2 Premiere

The Keri Russell-starrer is set to return on Oct. 31.

The streamer’s chief content officer Bela Bajaria shared the news while speaking at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles.

The six-episode second season finds Russell’s British ambassador Kate Wyler and her team at the U.S. embassy in the U.K. both dealing with the fallout from an explosion at the end of season one that leaves Kate’s husband Hal injured and trying to figure out who in the U.K. government might be involved in the attack on a British warship at the beginning of the series.

In addition to Russell and Sewell, the series stars David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear and Ato Essandoh. premiered on Netflix on April 20, 2023 and racked up nearly 174 million hours viewed in the four weeks after its premiere. The show washas been nominated for Emmy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, Producers Guild, Writers Guild and Critics Choice awards among other accolades..
