Showrunner Eric Kripke explains why The Boys season 4 won’t release until the ongoing WGA strike has been resolved, despite having wrapped filming.
Series creator and showrunner Eric Kripke has explained why The Boys season 4 will not be released until the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike has been resolved. With the WGA officially launching industrial action on May 2, 2023, multiple high-profile film and television projects have been impacted by the ongoing work bans.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Most recently, Kripke has taken to Twitter to explain why The Boys season 4 is also being affected by the writers strike, despite having already finished principal photography. Revealing that season 4’s final release date will be dependent on however long it takes for studios to reach an agreement with their writers, one fan questioned The Boys showrunner about why the season was being impacted. Kripke explained that despite filming being finished, there was still dialogue that needs to be written and re-recorded during the show’s post-production phase.
What Does The Boys Season 4 Delay Mean For Gen V? While news of a potential delay for The Boys season 4 may frustrate some viewers eager for the show’s next batch of episodes, the season’s intended release date had never been officially announced to begin with. With filming on the new season only finishing up in April 2023, most predictions had previously placed an anticipated release date sometime in early 2024.
Yet while audiences may need to wait a little longer to see The Boys season 4, they may still get the opportunity to be immersed in the show’s world of corrupt Supes sooner than expected. With the franchise’s latest spinoff series Gen V already planned to release sometime later this year, it is possible that it may have avoided the same kinds of delays the main series faces.
