The actress originally cast as Topanga in Boy Meets World comes forward and says she was fired because they didn't think she was pretty enough.

The actress who was originally cast as Topanga in Boy Meets World comes forward and shares why she was fired. Topanga was played by Danielle Fishel in all seven seasons of ABC's coming-of-age sitcom which aired from 1993 to 2000. The nonconformist character served as Cory's on-and-off romantic interest from middle school to their eventual marriage at college.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT During a recent appearance on Pod Meets World, which is hosted by Fishel, Friedle, and Strong, the actress who was originally cast as Topanga in Boy Meets World, Bonnie Morgan, came forward and shared her story. Telling the story for the first time, Morgan says she was fired after one day. Word got back to her agent that the director didn't think she was pretty enough.

"You're fired..." "What?" I left my pancakes, ran into my room, took a blueberry-smelling marker and wrote the worst day of my life on my hummingbird calendar. What came out, fortunately, I had been with my agent for a very long time. The director said I couldn't take direction, which is one thing I had never been accused of. I was working a lot and my agent immediately fought back on that one.

Boy Meets World Was Plagued With Problems Behind-The-Scenes Since its very beginning, Boy Meets World was plagued with problematic behavior behind-the-scenes, especially regarding the treatment of its female cast members. Strong has described the atmosphere on-set as "damaging," which he claims was cultivated by co-creator Michael Jacobs, who had unreasonable expectations of the young cast.

Maitland Ward, who played Rachel during the later seasons, has also come forward and shared many of her negative experiences on Boy Meets World and how "girls were treated like meat." Just recently, Fishel recalled some creepy behavior from an executive who sexualized her while she was still a teenager.
