The Volkswagen ID.7 is a big, low-drag electric sedan.
Perhaps the most impressive thing about the ID.7 is its 0.23 drag coefficient, which makes it puts it among the lowest-drag cars on sale today. The ID.7 just behind the Hyundai Ioniq 6's lowest drag of 0.22 and tied with the Tesla Model 3. In an electric car, a more slippery shape is a huge boon for efficiency. Volkswagen is targeting an EPA range of 300 miles from a 77-kWh net battery.
The ID.7 can charge at 170 kW, a notable improvement over the ID.4's maximum of 135 kW, ensuring quicker DC fast charging, but still a ways off the 350 kW maximum offered by many Hyundai Motor EVs, the Porsche Taycan, and others. As with other ID models, the ID.7 uses MacPherson-strut front and multi-link rear suspension, but uniquely comes standard with Volkswagen's DCC adaptive dampers. The rubber components in the rear axle are unique compared with other ID cars to better suit the ID.
