Nissan delays launch of Z sportscar due to, what else, parts issues. Nissan NissanZ CarGuidePH
, the all-new Nissan Z still hasn’t rolled off the production line. Now, the Japanese carmaker has revealed what everyone feared: a launch delay.
Expected to roll out starting spring in the U.S. and June in Japan, Nissan has now changed the global launch timing of its sportscar to “summer 2022.” The delay now has the sportscar’s launch pegged anytime between July to September. The reason? The ongoing semiconductor shortage and other supply chain disruptions.
Separately, the Nissan Ariya electric SUV has also reached a production snag. Although it has started to roll off Japanese showrooms in limited numbers, it won’t reach international markets until towards the end of the year. Both the Nissan Z and the Ariya are made at Nissan’s Tochigi assembly plant. The Ariya is made on a line that was completely revamped to manufacture electric vehicles. The Nissan Z is made on a separate line that also churns out the GT-R sports cars and sedans for Infiniti.
