That Starbucks cup fans noticed in last night's episode of 'Game Of Thrones' was the least of its problems. Here are ten more that you should be very worried about.
1. Two episodes were packed into 78 minutes.Last night, when I sat down to write my episode recap and review, I felt overwhelmed. I usually don't feel that way after an episode of The problem, I realize now, is that HBO basically tried to cram two full length, 60-minute episodes into one 78-minute mini-movie. A ton was going on, but it all felt truncated. This is the core, underlying problem that underpins every other problem on this list.
I absolutely hate how badly this show has neglected Ghost, and I loathe the major changes they've made to Jon and Ghost's relationship from the books. In George R.R. Martin's novels the Stark children are wargs. Arya has dreams where she's running with a pack of wolves and is actually warging into Nymeria. Jon can warg into Ghost. The relationships between the Stark children and their direwolves are incredibly important.
This apparently wasn't the teaching moment you'd think it would be for Daenerys and her forces, as apparently they have no scouts and Dany can't see anything below her while riding on a bloody dragon. Euron is once again perfectly placed for an ambush, kills Rhaegal with ease, and then proceeds to utterly destroy Dany's ships and also take Missandei prisoner .
Meanwhile, Drogon was rendered entirely useless against Euron's magic ships, so yeah . . . what is the point of these beasts exactly? The worst thing about last week's battle was the lack of anything remotely like an actual military tactic. Sending the Dothraki off to die in the very beginning against an enemy force they couldn't even see was wildly stupid, and something no military leader would have actually done.
Oh, and why not actually utilize Bran once and a while? The guy can see the future. He can warg into ravens and be a scout. Utilize his powers for goodness sake!Credit: HBO But then she's with Jon, being horribly manipulative, pleading with him not to reveal his identity to anyone . It makes me more sympathetic to Daenerys than I've been in a long time, because this whole thing feels horribly forced. So Bronn magically appeared in Winterfell, got past all the guards, and showed up with his crossbow pointed at Jaime and Tyrion who he just happened to find together at the perfect time.
