Dominic Perrottet has provided an insight into the personal cost of politics, revealing what 'hurts' about juggling a big family and a busy job.

New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet has opened up about the personal cost of being in the state's top job and how he is aiming"to be a better dad".

When Mr Perrottet was sworn in following Gladys Berejiklian's resignation, he became the youngest Premier in the state's history. "I'd say it's hard for many families struggling with work and family life. We've always got to put things in place to help us do it better," Mr Perrottet said."You don't want to miss the basketball games, you don't want to miss the camps and sometimes that's just part of life."

"Helen certainly reminds me I've got to make it up. And you want to make it up and it drives you to make sure that when you are at home and you are with the kids that you're switched off," Mr Perrottet said. The first photo taken in June last year shows Mr Perrottet seated on a couch with Celeste in his arms, with the second image snapped this month featuring his youngest daughter standing up on the same couch while holding his arm.
