If you haven’t,If you don't know the story, here's the gist: On March 22, 2026, an Air Canada flight collided with a Port Authority fire truck on a runway at LaGuardia Airport.
The pilots,, including two firefighters who were in the truck. According to preliminary analysis, the plane was traveling at over 100 mph when it struck the vehicle. The collision occurred as the fire truck was responding to a separate"odor" emergency on a United Airlines flight.Air traffic control audio revealed that the truck was initially cleared to cross the runway before a controller desperately, but unsuccessfully, yelled for it to stop. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the incident.Earlier this week, I learned about Kouri Richins, and it’s truly a jaw-dropping story. On the surface, she was a grieving widow — a mom of three who even wrote a children’s book about coping with the loss of a parent after her husband died. But just last week, a Utah jury found her guilty of murdering him.Prosecutors said Kouri poisoned her husband, Eric, with a fentanyl-laced cocktail in 2022, after allegedly trying to kill him once before, just weeks earlier.the lethal dose of fentanyl in his system, which immediately raised red flags since he had no history of drug use. Authorities also uncovered that Kouri had allegedly tried to poison him just weeks earlier by spiking a sandwich, but he survived that incident.and financial records suggesting Kouri had been secretly dealing with a drug dealer and had asked specifically for fentanyl. At the same time, prosecutors argued she was under serious financial strain and had taken out — and stood to benefit from — a life insurance policy on Eric.Wildly, in the year following his death, she published and promoted a book meant to help her kids process their grief."The idyllic facade is made creepier by the fact that it's located minutes from Taholah, an impoverished reservation town that's literally sinking into the ocean. Driving through both towns is a weird contrast."Seabrook is a master-planned beach town that some people say gives off slightly “uncanny valley” vibes, feeling more like a movie set than a lived-in place. It was actually inspired by communities like Seaside, Florida , so everything is very intentionally designed, from the coordinated Cape Cod-style houses to the perfectly manicured streets. Because a lot of the homes are vacation rentals rather than full-time residences, it can feel unusually quiet at times, with some visitors describing it as “Stepford-esque.” Rough and tumble fighting was a wild, anything-goes style of combat in 18th- and 19th-century America, mostly in the South. It was a socially accepted way to settle grudges, where the goal wasn’t just to win but to visibly ruin the other person.In fact, eye-gouging was so common it became almost expected, along with biting, maiming, and permanent disfigurement. Fights would draw crowds, and the aftermath — missing eyes, torn flesh, lifelong scars — was just part of the “entertainment.”The beloved musician, known as the “Queen of Tejano,” was fatally shot by Yolanda Saldívar, the president of her fan club and manager of her boutiques. The shooting occurred at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi, Texas, after SelenaAfter being shot, Selena managed to run to the motel lobby, where she collapsed and identified Saldívar as the attacker before losing consciousness. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Saldívar was later arrested, convicted of first-degree murder, and sentenced to life in prison, where she remains incarcerated.At the time of her death, Selena was on the verge of a major crossover into the English-language pop market and had already achieved significant success in Latin music.
