Players at Vietnam’s Thanh Hoa soccer club have gone on strike over unpaid salaries and bonuses with the team also withdrawing from the inaugural season of the AFC Champions League Two. More than 20 players at the club, which plays in the top-tier V. League 1, signed a statement that was released on social media Tuesday. It said the collective amount that the players were owed had climbed to around $640,000 over the last two seasons. “The local provincial government has a big responsibility as it does not support the club in the way that other provinces do,” Popov said. “We are the only club in Vietnam who trains in the stadium as we don’t have a training center.”
