Ted Cruz, R-Texas, called on supporters to light up senators’ phone lines with demands to derail this week’s expected election of Sen. Mitch McConnell to another two years leading Senate Republicans.

“If you have the number one team in the nation and you get crushed and you get crushed and you get crushed, you know what happens? They fire the coach,” Cruz said. “The idea that we would have leadership elections on Wednesday is insane.” “Americans are demanding transformative change but Congress is too broken to provide that change,” Roy said on Twitter. “Our Speaker, whoever that is . . . must a) reject the status quo, lead on issues that matter to Americans, & empower House members to fight for those issues.”

“It’s about how we can effectively do our job come January and that’s what we have to structure,” Roy said.
