Port of Corpus Christi getting $105M, the biggest Clean Ports Program award of four given to Texas facilities.
The Port of Corpus Christi is receiving $105 million to deploy climate-friendly equipment and infrastructure, part of $3 billion in federal environmental grants announced Tuesday for ports across the U.S. , including three others in Texas .
The grant will cover about 70% of the total cost, with the remainder shared by the port and the owners/operators of the new equipment: Bay Houston Towing Co., Signet Maritime Corp., Suderman & Young Towing Co., and Watco. The Port of Corpus Christi last year was the leading exporter of U.S. oil, and is the third-largest port in the United States in total waterborne tonnage. It’s also the world’s third-largest pathway for crude exports, behind Russia and Saudi Arabia.
