Texas defeated Auburn 74-57, extending the Tigers' losing streak to six games. The Longhorns exploited Auburn's size disadvantage in the paint and controlled the tempo throughout the game. Auburn's struggles continued with poor offensive efficiency and an abundance of turnovers.
Thursday evening was a reunion of sorts, as Auburn head coach Johnnie Harris and top scorer DeYona Gaston matched up against their former school, Texas for the first time.
Against Texas, the Tigers' undoing came in the second quarter, getting outscored 23-11 and giving up an 18-3 run to end the half. Texas' size created mismatches across the board and the Longhorns were able to score in the paint without much resistance all game. Thursday was also another slow offensive night for Auburn, something that has plagued the Tigers in SEC play. Auburn shot 39% from the field for the game, and the offense continues to sputter without top perimeter scorer, Taliah Scott.
