Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Texas on early Monday morning as a Category 1 hurricane, prompting a slew of weather warnings.
Parts of Houston, Texas, have already received their monthly rainfall amounts for July in only two hours after Hurricane Beryl made landfall in the U.S. on early Monday morning.Beryl strengthened into a hurricane last Saturday, becoming June's easternmost major hurricane in the Atlantic. The storm underwent rapid intensification and, at one point, was categorized as a Category 5 hurricane. It has killed at least 11 people in the Caribbean, according to The Associated Press.
'Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas,' the NWS office in Houston said. 'Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...Lake Jackson, southern Angleton, Bay City, Freeport, Clute, West Columbia, Sweeny, Surfside Beach, Richwood, Brazoria, Jones Creek, Oyster Creek, southern Bailey's Prairie, Wild Peach Village, Sargent and Van Vleck.
