Texas downs Texas A&M for first baseball win in College Station since 2011
COLLEGE STATION — The Texas Longhorns consider their 15th consecutive victory one of their sweetest this season — and it wasn’t even a league game. It will be in two years, however.
UT reliever Zane Morehouse struck out A&M cleanup hitter Jace LaViolette after falling behind 2-0 in the count with two runners on in the bottom of the eighth inning, and Morehouse also struck out No. 9 hitter Kasen Wells with two outs and two runners on in the bottom of the ninth to end the game. The Longhorns outhit the Aggies 15-6 but also left 15 runners on base in helping A&M hang around until the end. UT won its first game at Blue Bell Park since 2011, when both programs were still in the Big 12. A&M joined the SEC in the summer of 2012.
