EPS said ballistics testing confirmed gun used to kill constables Brett Ryan and Travis Jordan was same used to shoot a Pizza Hut employee
Laforce said officers probing the Pizza Hut shooting believe the suspect crossed Groat Road heading east, in the direction of Baywood Park.
He said the complex was subject to “extensive searches,” however, “nothing actually was tracked” to the building where Ryan and Jordan were later killed.Ryan and Jordan died while responding to a family dispute inside one of the dozens of buildings that make up Baywood Park, a sprawling residential complex along Groat Road containing around 700 units.
According to police, the youth’s mother let the officers into the building, where they were taken by surprise outside the family’s second-floor unit. Police officials said Thursday that both the mother and the officers were shot multiple times, while the teen died from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.Article content
Investigators have no reason to believe either the mother or the boy’s 73-year-old father knew about the gun, Laforce said Thursday. He added dispatchers were given no information about a possible weapon or any threat of violence.Edmonton Police Service released pictures of Const. Brett Ryan and Const. Travis Jordan, who were both killed in the line of duty on March 16, 2023.
