Answering a call to a store at 9:42 p.m. Aug. 23, police cited a South Russell man, 18, for theft and underage possession of alcoholic beverages.

A South Russell man, 18, faces charges of theft and underage possession of alcohol stemming from a 9:42 p.m. Aug. 23 incident.

He admitted to stealing a pack of 10 miniature bottles of vodka by concealing them in the front pocket of his hoodie while at Drug Mart.He said he stole the vodka after a football game because his friends asked him to.Store employees reported clothing thefts at 8 p.m. Aug. 21 at Dick’s Sporting Goods.Employees reported that the woman had two pairs of shoes concealed in her purse and that the man had taken fleece shirts.

She admitted to drinking 5 ounces of wine earlier in the day, but had a blood-alcohol content of more than three times the legal limit.Police cited her with failure to stop and report an accident and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.After crashing into the rear of a box truck at 12:35 p.m. Aug. 23, a Bedford man, 47, faces charges of failure to maintain an assured clear distance.Neither man was transported from the scene for medical attention.
