Aztecs have won the Western Athletic Conference’s regular-season title with a 7-0-1 record

For us, defense is a total team effort. Everyone plays defense.”“Our forwards do a tremendous amount of work,” said Hopkins. “They play defense as well as offense on the other team’s end. It’s like you see with good hockey teams, the forwards keeping the ball from leaving their zone.
Puente is a senior from Chihuahua, Mexico. Apolinar, Viviani, Carillo and Jaridly are juniors. Nguepissi is a freshman from Birmingham, England. “Like many of us, he had a slow start to the season,” Hopkins said. “He’s very athletic. And he’s on a great run.” “Everyone seemed to step it up at about the same time. We became a really good defensive team across the field. We have some great chemistry when it comes to that. In the past, we’ve struggled to put together a whole game. We play the same way from minute one to 90. Cohesion is very important.”“We’re pretty confident when it’s 1-0,” said the coach. “We trust each other.”
