Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has opened its first New Jersey location in Hackensack, bringing its premium Hawaiian coffee and unique island flavors to the Garden State. The article reviews the store's atmosphere, menu, and highlights both the delicious latte and a disappointing breakfast sandwich experience.
Sure, it may be winter in New Jersey but a slice of the Hawaiian islands has just landed in our snowy state.has made its debut in the Garden State with its first location in Hackensack . The coffee franchise is known for offering premium coffee beans from Hawaii and other international coffees since 1989.“During COVID, I was impressed with mom and pop shops of all kinds like little coffee shop s and delis.
Upon entering, you’ll find a sleek counter featuring a tempting display of pastries and breakfast sandwiches, with the menu hanging overhead. The space is minimalistic yet inviting, with a few tables in the front and chairs set up for a casual hangout. The latte was, well, bad-ass. It exploded with the tropical nuttiness of coconut with a deep taste of the macadamia nut while the caramel added a sweet touch. It was like tasting the island in a cup.
The spam tasted like it was just taken straight from the can and slapped onto the sandwich. Ideally, it should’ve been fried to add a nice, crispy crust to the protein. The pineapple also seemed to be from a can, as the juices were dripping out and quickly making the sandwich soggy. To top it off, there was barely any BBQ sauce. I stopped eating after two bites.
