A family in Tasmania are grieving the loss of their teenage son after he was killed by a falling tree branch on Sunday afternoon.

A family in Tasmania are grieving the loss of their 17-year-old son after he was killed by a falling tree branch while felling with his father on Sunday afternoon.

In a police report, police said the 17-year-old was felling trees with his father when he was “struck by a falling branch”. Tasmania Police said the incident was still under investigation with a report being prepared for the coroner. At the time, Metropolitan Fire Service commander Declan Dwyer said the woman was sitting under the tree when it fell and appeared to be having something to eat or drink.
