Taron Egerton opens up about why he hates the movie mustache he had to don for his role in the Tetris movie, where he plays game designer Henk Rogers.

Tetris star Taron Egerton has opened up about why he hated wearing a movie mustache while playing the role of video game designer Henk Rogers in the upcoming film. The movie, which will be distributed by Apple TV+, tells the real-life story of Egerton's Henk and how he secured the rights to distribute the famous Russian puzzle game Tetris around the world. Egerton stars opposite Nikita Yefremov, who will play Tetris' creator, Alexey Pajitnov.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Speaking with Good Morning America, Egerton revealed how much he hated wearing a fake movie mustache for his role in Tetris. Egerton jokingly says his fake mustache reminded him of childbirth and informs viewers to remind him not to take on another role where he'll have to wear a fake mustache again.

"I didn't love it. I didn't love it. I think, were it real, I may have loved it. But it was a bit of movie magic. And my word, that thing was so uncomfortable. I wore one because the mustache God gave me is, you know, a little lacking. So I had some movie help. I wore one for Eddie the Eagle which is a movie I did about eight years ago. And I wore that for part of the movie and I said, 'I will never do that ever again, because it's the most uncomfortable thing.

The style of the film's trailer also reflects the real-world Tetris syndrome, a type of cognitive projection where someone who plays Tetris for too long begins to see the world like the game's layout. While the film may be using this as a stylistic choice in its presentation, the decision to do so has a double meaning, as it exhibits how addicting the game can be.

Tetris promises to be a fun yet informative drama bringing the real-life story of Tetris' international distribution to the film world. Despite his complaints about having to wear a fake mustache, Egerton's dedication to his role as Henk promises a movie that presents the history of Tetris with love, care, and dramatic flair. How much history and style went into making Tetris will be clear when the film begins streaming on Apple TV+.
