Sydney Sweeney at Variety’s Power of Women event.

Sweeney is set to play retired film actress Novak in a film opposite David Jonsson, who will be portraying Sammy Davis Jr. The movie, titled Scandalous, was first announced in 2024. Sweeney's Euphoria co-star Colman Domingo is directing the feature alongside Janet Mock.

Novak spoke to The Times of London and stated that she would've"never approved" of casting Sweeney as her in the upcoming movie Scandalous. Novak doesn't approve of Sweeney and stated that the actress"sticks out so much above the waist" and fears the story of her life could end up being far more R-rated than Novak is comfortable with. "There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time. She was totally wrong to play me," Novak stated. When the movie was announced, Sweeney spoke to People about the role and stated that she was"incredibly honored" to take on the role as Novak and lead the film. "I think her story is still very relevant today in that she dealt with Hollywood and scrutiny with her relationships and her own private life and the control of her image. And I think that for me, I relate to it in a lot of different ways."
