Deanna 'Violet' Coco has had her jail sentence overturned after she was convicted for her role in a climate change demonstration which brought Sydney to a standstill.

Deanna"Violet" Coco, 32, was last year handed a 15-month sentence with a non-parole period of eight months for her role in a demonstration which brought Sydney to a standstill.

The 32-year-old then climbed onto the roof alongside fellow activists, and lit a flare as part of a protest against climate change inaction for Fireproof Australia.During a successful appeal in the NSW District Court on Wednesday, judge Mark Wilson issued Ms Coco with a 12-month conditional release order after noting she had been initially imprisoned on false information by NSW Police.

The 32-year-old became the first person to be jailed after the state government's passed legislation introducing harsher penalties for climate protesters last year.
