An 84-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Northfield Center Township, Ohio. The suspect involved in the incident has surrendered to authorities.

NORTHFIELD CENTER TOWNSHIP , Ohio (WOIO) - According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect in the hit-and-run incident that killed an 84-year-old woman Tuesday night has turned himself in. Tuesday, deputies say they were called out around 8 p.m. to Olde Eight Road on Tuesday for a pedestrian hit by a car.According to the sheriff’s office, the Boston Heights woman, identified as Elizabeth Rock, died at MetroHealth in Cleveland.

Her son Joseph Rock tells 19 News, “My mother was the most amazing woman in the world. She was so kind and generous that she would help anyone in need.” Rock says just before the hit and run he had never seen his mom in such great spirits. The 84-year-old grandmother loved her 5-year-old granddaughter so much and had attended a Christmas concert at St. Barnabus Catholic Church that the granddaughter was a part of. Deputies provided photos showing the suspect vehicle, which they describe as a late-model, blue Ford Explorer.The vehicle was traveling northbound on Olde Eight Road when the crash happened. A representative at St. Barnabus told 19 News, “The parish prays for her family and we ask everyone else for their prayers as well.”Copyright 2024 WOIO. All rights reserved
