A man is facing multiple felony charges after police said he stabbed a woman in the back during a domestic dispute in Cache County. Jay Dalton Jones, 20, was arrested for aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and attempted aggravated murder after a woman ran out of an apartment calling for help, according to arrest documents.
Police responded to an apartment near Logan on Wednesday after witnesses called 911, reporting they heard a woman scream, "Get off me," and "help me." Witnesses said they heard and saw a female sprinting down the stairs with a man chasing her. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw Jones "assisting into the passenger side of a vehicle." Officers checked on the woman and found a stab wound on her back and a fresh bruise on her face. The woman was transported to the Logan Regional Hospital before being moved to a hospital in Ogden for more advanced care, police said. They did not release her condition.Jones initially told officers that they were roughhousing with his dog when she fell off the bed and onto a knife, according to documents. He brought them to the area where the incident allegedly happened and showed them a serrated blade with blood on the tip, saying that was the knife she had fallen on. Police said he was taken to the North Park Police Department for questioning and eventually admitted to backhanding the woman, putting his arms around her neck, throwing her phone in the trash, and stabbing her back when she opened the door to flee. When asked about putting his arms around her neck, he allegedly said he didn't want to let go because he was afraid she would destroy his stuff. "Jay said he wouldn't call this an accident and there was no way this was an accident. Jay reported he shouldn't have had the knife, and he shouldn't have chased her with the knife," police wrote in the probable cause statement." stated Jay went to grab something off a nearby window sill and she saw this as her chance to get away so she ran from the bedroom to the front door of their apartment to get out of there," police wrote. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, you can call the Utah Domestic Violence LINKLine at 1-800-897-LINK for confidential help 24/7.An 8-year-old girl was found safe and back with her family nearly 16 hours after she was reported missing on Halloween night.Officials from the Salt Lake CityNeighbors expressed shock after a Halloween celebration in West Valley City took a tragic turn when gunfire erupted.Police said a fight broke out at a house parOne teenager is dead, and another is in critical condition after shots were fired at a party in West Valley City on Halloween night.Officials with the West VallPeople pulled their cars into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ward parking lot in the Rose Park area for food from a mobile pantry, as federal jA collision between a TRAX train and a vehicle in downtown Salt Lake City caused delays. The Utah Transit Authority said in its final update at 4:30 p.m. Saturda
