A 35-acre surf and adventure park, featuring a 4-acre surf lagoon, resort-style hotel, dining, entertainment, and business spaces, is coming to McKinney.The city of McKinney has entered a $200 million agreement with Cannon Beach to attract tourists and boost North Texas' economy.Cannon Beach Surf and Adventure Park will be located at the northeast corner of Stacy Road and State Highway 121.Cannon Beach opened its first location earlier this month in Mesa, Arizona.

The development is expected to create more than 700 local jobs and generate over $2 billion in economic impact in North Texas over the next 20 years.Approximately 300,000 visitors are anticipated annually.This will be the first surf park available to North Texas residents; the closest existing facility is in Waco.Developer Cole Cannon said the project will "quite literally bring the ocean to its backyard," according to a press release from the city of McKinney.
